As part of its effort to bring out new models in the Indian market, Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) plans to launch its MPV Mobilio and third generation Jazz in the petrol and diesel variants.

In an interaction with media herre, HCIL senior vice-president (marketing and sales) Jnaneswar Sen said the company plans to launch Mobilio in the second quarter of the current financial year and the premium hatchback Jazz after that.

“Mobilio is a 7-seater MPV with a length of 4.4 metres and will  have more leg space. It is already launched in Indonesia and will be produced in the same Amaze platform. It will be competitively priced,”he said.

“Our goal is to gain trust and fulfill the aspiration of our customers. Here we want to provide the joy of mobility with quality. The current year is a challenging and eventful year because we started moving our diesel engine vehicles and our second plant in Rajasthan commenced its operations,” he said.

HCIL reported a 30 per cent increase in domestic sales at 11,040 units in April compared to the 8,488 units sold in the same month of the previous year.

“2013-14 was very good year for us in terms of volume as well as growth. We achieved our highest ever sales of 1.34 lakh cars, a growth of 83 per cent,”said Sen.

On the global market expansion front, he said: “Honda has set a target to sell 6 million cars across the globe in 2016-17. HCIL is planning to increase its target from 3 per cent to five per cent annually by 2016-17”.
