Engineer hangs himself at home

Hari Kumar, 52, civil engineer, hung himself at his residence in Udayanagar on Friday night.

Married to Vani, an assistant professor in a City college, he had a son, and was working in Saudi Arabia.

The couple would quarrel and after one such squabble on Friday, he shut himself in his room.

Assuming he had gone to sleep, his wife did not disturb him.

However, when she went to check on him through the window, she found him hanging from the ceiling, police said.

Student commits suicide

In another incident, Ramya, 17, daughter of parents who were labourers, hung herself at his residence in Bairaveshwaranagar on Saturday morning, dejected at not being ableto clear her SSLC exams.

She took her life when her parents were away at work.

The incident came to light when the mother returned home for lunch and found her daughter hanging looking through the window.

The body was sent for post-mortem.

In the death note, she has stated she is solely responsible for her action.

Miscreants rob man

Narayanaswamy, 32, a resident of Arekere, was robbed of cash and mobile phone by three unidentified miscreants while he was waiting for his brother to fetch fuel for his bike, near Bilekahalli.

While returning home after visiting his brother's house in Bilekhalli, his bike had run out of fuel near Vijaya Bank Colony.

He called up his brother to fetch fuel in a bottle.Before the brother arrived, three unidentified people, on two-wheeler, finding Nararyanswamy alone, threatened him before making away with Rs 14,000 cash and mobile phone, police said.

The  brothers lodged a complaint with the police, following which a hunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
