Karandlaje blames differences in Congress for power crisis in State

BJP candidate for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency Shobha Karandlaje has dared Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to supply 24x7 power to the people in the state.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, the former minister said the Congress government has failed in solving the power problem in the State. The CM should resolve his differences with Energy Minister D K Shivakumar. The differences were responsible for the present power crisis in the State.
“The people of the State should not be made to suffer because of their internal problems,” she said.

On the CM’s remark that the power problem can be traced to mismanagement during Karandlaje’s tenure as Energy Minister, she said that the Siddaramaiah should get all the files from the Energy Ministry and check the facts and figures and then react to power crisis in the state.

She said “during the BJP regime in the state,  84,000 megawatt additional electricity was connected  to the already existing power grid.” She challenged the government to announce the new power generating units in the state after the Congress government was formed.  Siddaramaiah should either solve the power problem in the State or resign from his post, she added.

She accused the CM of making false promise of supplying 24 hours power to the people in the state during the election campaign. It was the previous BJP government that had set up  power generating units in Yellapur and Chattisgarh. However the state could not generate electricity owing to the biased approach of the UPA government in supplying coal. She said that the UPA government had sold coal illegally to private firms. The CM should seek additional allocation of coal from the Centre.

She said the CM should look into the grave problems rather than in issuing political statements. There is drought like situation in several taluks. Hundreds of villages are suffering from acute shortage of water. The CM should deliberate on these issues and find solutions.
She said that she was confident of winning the election because of  Modi wave.
