Processions, public meetings banned

City Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar on Thursday said that around 10,000 policemen and other security forces will be deployed across the city to maintain law and order on Friday when the counting of votes of three parliamentary constituencies in the City will taken up.

He said that prohibitory orders have been clamped, banning procession or public meetings in the City, from 10 am to midnight. But, religious and funeral processions will be allowed, Auradkar added. Another senior police officer said that a police officer of the rank of joint commissioner of police, a DCP and 400 policemen will be deployed at each counting centre.

 As man as 38 striking parties along with other security forces will patrol the City to prevent any untoward incidents. He said that the sale of liquor has been banned till Friday midnight.
