<p>In a bid to boost tourism in the State, the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) on Thursday added nine new buses to its existing fleet of 52 buses. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The new buses, including seven mini buses and two luxury multi-axle buses will ply to tourist spots like Tirupati, Mysore, Belur-Halebid, Shravanabelagola and Bannerghatta Biological Park. Inaugurating the services at the Vidhana Soudha, Tourism Minister, RV Deshpande, said: “The chief minister had announced these buses in the budget and is committed to implement all the tourism projects announced this time.”<br /><br />He further added that the State would soon come out with a ‘tourism policy’. <br /><br />The multi-axle buses have a seating capacity of 51, while two of the mini buses have 32 seats and the remaining five mini buses have 18 seats.<br /><br /> The minister also said that this initiative will create jobs for locals and that the department is encouraging private institutions to increase investment in the tourism sector. A proposal to fill 18 vacant posts in the Tourism department has been submitted to the Finance department.</p>
