Lathi charge on farmers: Raitha Sangha members stage protest

'Yeddyurappa took oath in the name of farmers. But now, he is following anti-farmer policies'

Farmers of Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene urged the government to fulfill their demands. They alleged that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa failed to address the problems of farmers in the state even after holding meeting thrice.

Yeddyurappa, who sworn in as a Chief Minister in farmers’ name, is now implementing an anti-farmer policy in the state. Police opened fire at those farmers, who fought for fertilisers.

Those farmers, who opposed the land acquisition for airport at Sirivara and Jaganooru, were caned.
Similarly, farmers were caned and put behind bars at Chamarajanagar and Davanagere too, protestors charged. The government which assault farmers will not last.
People of the state will teach the government appropriate lesson for all its mistakes in future, they aded.

Farmers demanded that the deputy commissioner of Chamarajanagar district should be removed from his office. An inquiry should be conducted and action should be taken against the culprits, farmers demanded.

Raitha Sangha state secretary M Manjunatha, district honourary president K K Krishnegowda, district general secretary Gurushanthappa, taluk president M C Basavaraj, secretary K P Chandregowda, Moodigere taluk president D R Duggappagowda, secretary T A Manjunatha, Hasiru Sene district president H K Shashidhara, CPI district secretary B Ahmed and Kannada Sene state convenor Shridhara were present.
