Getting a birth and death certificate will be hassle-free as the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decentralised the online certificate issuance system.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, BBMP additional commissioner (Administration) B B Kaveri and joint commissioner (Health) Dr Yathish Kumar said the decentralised system has been introduced to benefit the citizens.

“Earlier the certificates were issued in the office of the joint director (statistics) but now we have decentralised the system. People can now get certificates in the offices of zonal health officers or deputy health officers,” said Kaveri.

Yathish Kumar said birth certificate can be availed in just three days of the birth in the hospital itself before getting discharged.

Within a year of the birth, the parents can apply for another birth certificate with the name of the child.
