Uthappa to lead India-A in Oz

Robin Uthappa’s phenomenal success in the just concluded IPL season and the Ranji season preceeded has revived his international career.

On Wednesday,  Uthappa was named captain of India A’s one day squad to tour Australia. Besides Uthappa his fellow Karnakata player Manish Pandey, Karun Nair and K L Rahul will be part of the team. 

All three players were instrumental in Karnataka’s success in the Ranji season that ended recently. Pandey and Nair were also impressive in the IPL season. Meanwhile, Manoj Tiwary has been  asked to lead the four-day match.

India will play two four-day matches against the James Faulkner-led Australia A in Queensland from July 6-9 and 13-16.

They will then play a quadrangular one day series involving Australia A, Australian High Performance Centre and South Africa A. 

The likes of K L Rahul, Karun Nair, Railways’ Anureet Singh, Services’ Rajat Paliwal have made it to the team following good showings in Ranji Trophy.
