With the Zumba fever taking the City by storm, Bangalore’s fitness freaks with a fancy for grooving and shaking a leg, flocked to the studio of Bellez Dance and Fitness Academy (BDFA Bellez) in Banashankari recently to be a part of Hyderabad-based Zumba jammer Jegatha Muralidharan’s masterclass.

Rohit Saud, a dancer and certified Zumba instructor at the academy, explained, “This is a Zumba tradition and it’s all about having fun and spreading the Zumba love.”

Playing host to a 90-minute non-stop dance party, the venue saw elements of Latin, Samba, Salsa, Meringue, Hip-Hop, Bollywood, Belly-Dance, Dancehall and more. The Zumba fanatics of all age groups grooved to songs like London Thumakda, Mara, and Ole Ole, the football theme song by Pitbull.
Zumba instructors like Rohit, Augstin Nelson, Raja, Amit Nayak and Preeti Puranik later joined Jegatha Muralidharan, adding to the fun with their moves.

Beads of sweat pouring from their faces, the students moved to the beat with big smiles on their faces as the instructors kept their energies high and their motivation running. The students were all praises for the event. “I’ve never sweat so much in my life,” said an elated Amita.
“The more the people, the more the fun. This class was really good,” Augstin said.           Commenting on the trend that has caught on like wildfire with the City’s fitness enthusiasts, Rohit commented, “When we started off in the City three years ago, it was very tough to convince people to take up Zumba and explain what Zumba is about.

When they were told that this is dance-fitness, quite a lot of men were not comfortable to take it up But now, people willingly come to the studio to join Zumba.”

Swearing by the form of dance-fitness and its effectiveness, Jegatha expressed her gratitude over being able to conduct the class, and shared her views on the event.

“This was a great class. I’d like to wish the best of luck to Bangalore and its Zumba culture.” Excited students enthusiastically hooted and cheered the team of instructors.
