JOIN USFive people, who were planning to assault passersby near Kurubarahalli and rob them, were arrested by the Basaveshwaranagar police recently.
Wasim Sharif, 23, Syed Afsar, Hakeel Ahmed, Wajid Ahmed and Mohammed Asif, all 24, are the arrested. Weapons, Rs 6 lakh worth of gold ornaments, two bikes and an autorickshaw were recovered from them.
During interrogation, it came to light that they were involved in nine cases of robbery and chain-snatching in the city. There are several cases booked against the suspects in various police stations.

The police also arrested Ganesh, 29 and Anand, 25, and recovered Rs 11 lakh worth of gold and silver ornaments and Rs 65,000 from them.
It is learnt that they were involved in several cases of thefts and robberies. They used to target houses and break into them after confirming that the residents had gone outside, said the police
