The owner of the Hotel Sarswati in Moghalsarai, about 15 km from Varanasi, has been asked to show cause why his licence should not be revoked for allowing someone to stay at the hotel without checking his ID.

UP additional director-general of police, law and order, Brijlal told reporters here on Wednesday that Aamir and nine others had checked into the hotel on the evening of December 10 and checked out at dawn on December 13.
Seven rooms were booked in the name of one Akram Shah and Party, all residents of Mumbai, in the hotel, Brijlal said.

“There are standing orders that no one should be allowed to check in at a hotel without furnishing proper ID...a notice has been issued to the hotel owner and the matter is being investigated,” he said.

An alert had already been sounded in the state in view of threats from the terrorists. “Varanasi is a highly sensitive place owing to its religious importance,” he said.
In response to a query Brijlal gave a clean chit to Aamir saying that unless someone changes his identity to do something illegal, he can not be proceeded against.
Aamir reached Varanasi on Friday and travelled through the narrow and cramped bylanes of the ancient city for two days in search of his mother, Zeenat’s birth place “Khawja Manzil.”

Aamir had wrapped his face with a muffler. No one recognised him, not even the auto rickshaw driver who took him to different localities.
