Ayurvedic birth centre opened

Mysore Maharani Pramoda Devi , on Friday, inaugurated an ayurvedic-based integrative birth centre at IHST (Institute of Trans- disciplinary Health Sciences & Technology) in City.

According to Dr Shwetha Suvarna said the centre will be family centric than hospital centric to ease the process of giving birth.  

Ayurveda, she explained, offers safe and effective care not only during pregnancy and labour, but prior to conception and throughout post-natal period.

Through the pregnancy care programme, the centre, she said, will prepare couples holistically encompasing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects to welcome their baby.

The centre will also offer planned dietary regimen specifically for gestation months, yoga, meditation, music therapy and special ayurveda therapies like yoni pichu and matra vasti for well being of mother and child.

As all pregnancies have smooth antenatal, labour and post-partum event, the 100 bed centre is equipped for emergencies in case of complications.
