Deputy Commissioner Dr Muddu Mohan has said that Udupi district has formulated a comprehensive disaster management plan, which will be unveiled shortly.

A comprehensive disaster management plan is designed keeping in mind all the factors that bother the landscape of the district.

Speaking after inaugurating the district-level disaster response training programme at Red Cross Bhavan organised by Udupi District Branch of Indian Red Cross Society, the DC elaborated that the plan will offer precautionary, preventive and also rehabilitation measures following the possible occurence of any form of disaster.

It is named as integrated disaster management manual.

“The disaster management is an essential component of district administration. It will ensure safety to the society in times of natural and man-made disasters.

Disaster is not uncommon these days, as it is always been attacking the human habitat in one or the other form,” he noted. The disaster might be drought, heavy downpour or through anti-environment industrial projects and other man made disasters.

However, natural disasters pose a huge threat in contrast to the disasters including man made,” Muddu Mohan said.

He lauded the efforts taken up by Red Cross Society. The DC called upon the officials and also non-officials to take part in the disaster management training.
