<p>Chalana Pakati, a young danseuse, presented her bharatanatyam rangapravesha at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall recently. Chalana, who has been training under Kiran Subramanyam and Sandhya Kiran, stated off with an invocatory number — Pushpanjali, following which she rendered the Ganesha Stuti.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Then came the main number of the recital, the ‘Nrityopaharam. She sailed through the entire gamut of technical and narrative sequences with ease. ‘Tales of Lord Krishna’ — his birth in trying circumstances, how the baby was taken away to Gokula, Pootana Samhara, Kalinga Mardhana, Geetopadesha etc were enacted with confidence and conviction. <br /><br />Further, she performed ‘Abhinaya’ numbers — one dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, and then a Devarama describing the pranks of little Krishna. Chalana concluded her recital with aplomb, with a fast-paced Thillana. The chief guests on the occasion were danseuse and choreographer Veena Murthy Vijay and cine star Srimurali. <br />Veena spoke with overwhelming joy, about how much she enjoyed Chalana’s performance. Chalana was endowed with the rare qualities of talent, commitment and perseverance, she said. </p>
