Yashas, Suraj shine

Yashas, 14, took the title after winning six of his nine matches while drawing the other three to collect a total of 7.5 points.
Yashas, a student of Sandeepini High School in Shimoga, opened his campaign with a win over Yuan Wei Ting of Singapore before going on to win the next five matches, including one against compatriot Aditya Udeshi. Despite drawing his final three matches, Yashas managed to hold on to his lead to clinch title in impressive fashion.
The win also fetched him 25 FIDE rating points.
In the U-20 category, fellow Karnataka lad M Suraj bagged the bronze medal for the first time in his career.
The II-year Bangalore Medical College student won a cash prize of $300 for his stellar performance in multi-nation event.
