Starting from Monday, hospitals will be jointly named as ‘Fortis Wockhardt’ and will remain so for about three months. Once the transition is well settled, they will be renamed as ‘Fortis Hospitals’.

Talking to Deccan Herald, Fortis Hospitals Ltd Managing Director Vishal Bali said “the re-branding is being done in phases so that our customers get to know about the change in management and also remain assured of the continuity of Wockhardt’s goodwill in health care.”

Bali, former CEO of Wockhardt’s hospital business, has been inducted as CEO of Fortis Hospitals, wholly-owned subsidiary of Fortis Healthcare Ltd.

With the addition of ten Wockhardt hospitals, Fortis will now have 6 hospitals in Bangalore, 4 hospitals in Mumbai and 3 hospitals in Kolkata apart from a vast presence in NCR and a major facility in Chennai. With the acquisitions of hospitals from Wockhardt Fortis has established its presence across India with a network of 39 hospitals.

These hospitals are delivering high end critical care to both domestic and international patients in the areas of Cardiac, Neuro Sciences, Orthopaedics, Minimal Invasive Surgery, Renal Sciences, Kidney and Liver transplants, Bali said.

The acquisition augments Fortis’ bed capacity by 1,902 beds (including 534 beds in 2 under construction projects) and provides significant presence in Southern, Western and Eastern India. The aggregate bed capacity of Fortis Network shall now stand at 5,180 beds.
