An employee of Muzrai department and a housewife committed suicide in separate incidents in Kamalanagar under Basaveshwaranagar police station limits on Monday.

Ramesh, 42, an employee of Muzrai department, hanged himself at his home in Kamalanagar. He was depressed over his ill-health and the recent death of his father.

He was being treated at Nimhans.

On Monday afternoon, he went to his bedroom and reportedly hanged himself.
The incident came to light when his children returned home and found him hanging.

The police, who visited the spot, did not find any death note.

Family members told the police that he might have committed suicide as he was upset about his health.

Homemaker’s suicide

In the other incident, Asha, 24, a housewife, committed suicide by hanging herself at her home, reportedly over marital discord. She had been married to Ramesh, an electrician, for the past three years.

It is learnt that she was unhappy with the marriage and hence may have taken the extreme step.

Family members, however, told the police that Ramesh was taking good care of her. Both cases have been registered at the Basaveshwaranagar police station.

Worker found dead

A poultry farm worker was hacked to death allegedly by his co-worker at Bangalore Poultry Centre near Briand Square in Chamarajpet police limits on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Saleem Baig (45), a resident of Tannery Road.

According to the police, Saleem Baig had been working at the poultry centre for the last 30 years. He used to shut up shop around 11 pm daily and meet its owner Mazar Khan at his home to hand over the day’s earnings.

Four people were employed at the centre. With two of them on leave, Baig and co-worker Fairoz Khan were at the poultry centre on Monday.

When Baig did not turn up even after 1 am, Mazar Khan and his son came to the poultry centre. When he found Baig lying in a pool of blood, he called the police. The police took the body to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem.

The police suspect that the murder occurred between 10 pm and 12.30 am. Preliminary investigation points to the involvement of Fairoz Khan  who is absconding.

A sharp-edged weapon was used to commit the murder, the police added.
