The State Congress on Friday appointed four senior Cabinet ministers as in charge of the three Assembly constituencies where byelections are scheduled to be held on August 21.
PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa and Energy Minister D K Shivakumar have been made in charge of Shikaripura and Bellary Rural respectively. Rural Development Minister H K Patil and Water Resources Minister M B Patil have been made in charge of Chikodi-Sadalga.
The party has also decided to appoint party legislators as taluk-level observers in these constituencies. A decision to this effect was taken at KPCC office-bearers’ meeting chaired by State party president G Parameshwara. The meeting discussed about the party’s strategy for the bypolls.
Meanwhile, the party high command has approved names of N Y Gopalakrishna, Ganesh Hukkeri and H S Shantaveerappa Gowda as candidates for Bellary Rural, Chikodi-Sadalga and Shikaripura, respectively.
