Jnanabharathi to become WiFi-enabled

The entire Jnanabharathi campus of Bangalore University will soon become WiFi enabled, Vice Chancellor B Thimme Gowda announced on Wednesday. 

Thimme Gowda told presspersons after the University’s Syndicate meeting here on Wednesday: “A decision in this regard was approved by the Syndicate meeting. Although the entire campus will be WiFi enabled, a firewall will be put in place to prevent its abuse and to block certain websites.”

He further said the technical bit with regards to the plan was over and a technical committee will also be formed to address particular requests from students and in case of any technical snags. In addition to this Thimmegowda also made known plans to set up CCTV cameras within the next three months in eight locations on the campus as identified by the police. 

He also revealed that negotiations with the transport department were on with regards to providing bus facility to the campus. 

The University had decided to withdraw transport facilities from four of the 18 routes due to financial losses. 

With regards to the results for the distance education exams that were held in December 2013, Thimmegowda said they will be decalared within the next 10 days.
