Kasab has already delivered a  alibi to escape the noose. He has claimed that he was not present at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on the 26/11 night and it was his “look-alike” who did all the massacre and shooting.

While it was not enough, on Monday he reeled out an equally entertaining tale of he having been shot at in custody, for the police to prove that it was he who was injured at the Girgaum Chowpatti shootout.

Designated judge M L Tahilyani asked him how he received a bullet injury on his hand if he was claiming that he was arrested by the Crime Branch on the previous night of 26/11 and framed for the terror attack.

Unwell

Earlier, when proceedings began in the court, he told the judge that he was not feeling well, and requested that recording of his statement be adjourned. But the judge said there would be no adjournment and if Kasab did not want to say anything, he was free to do so.

On Friday last, Kasab denied all charges related to the 26/11 attacks, rejected evidence given by all eyewitnesses as well as still photographs and CCTV footages that conclusively proved his presence at the CST and his role in the terror attack.

He tried to brush everything under carpet by simply stating that it was his “look-alike” and not he who committed all that horror.

On Monday, he once again denied having fired at former ATS chief Hemant Karkare, additional commissioner of police Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salakkar.
Even when he had pleaded guilty to various charges in July this year, he had denied having fired at the cops and put the entire blame on his accomplice Abu Ismail, who was killed at the Chowpatti encounter. But, Monday’s defence was different. “There is no question of me shooting at them as I was not present on the site,” he told the special court.

Kasab said he was neither present at the CST, nor at Cama Hospital nor at Girgaum Chowpati (where he was nabbed by the police) during the 26/11 attacks, because he was already in police custody when the terror attack took place.

After the attack, he was taken out by Crime Branch officers in a police vehicle, and was shown the sites, he said. “They are police, they need an accused. So they framed me up,” he alleged.
