Brothers attack neighbour over property dispute

 A long-running dispute between two neighbours over the encroachment of a piece of residential land turned bloody when they assaulted each other on Modi Road in DJ Halli on Monday night.

According to the police, Saifullah, 57, and his son Masthan, 32, were assaulted by Manju, 24, an auto-rickshaw driver, and his minor brother.

Saifullah had allegedly encroached upon about five feet of Manju’s property and built a house. This led to frequent fights between the neighbours. Many friends and relatives tried to get both the neighbours to a compromise, but in vain.

On Monday night, Manju and his brother picked a quarrel with Masthan and started assaulting him with a knife. Hearing his screams, Saifullah rushed to his son’s rescue, but he too was assaulted.

Neighbours intervened and stopped the fight, but Masthan collapsed with severe bleeding. They informed the police and shifted both the father and son to hospital.
Doctors told the police that Masthan had sustained serious injuries and was under observation. Saifullah is out of danger. The police have launched a manhunt for the brothers.

5 held for gang rape

The JC Nagar police have arrested five men for the gang rape of a 19-year-old girl. The arrested were identified as Vicky, Deepu, Karthik, Prabhu and Konga.

According to the police, the suspects were produced before the court which remanded them in judicial custody. They also underwent a medical examination. 

The suspects stay at JC Nagar and KG Halli and were drug addicts, the police said.
The five-member gang allegedly raped the woman at an under- construction building at Shampur in KG Halli on Saturday night.

They had coaxed her to smoke marijuana and when she went into a semi-conscious state, raped her. Hours later, they took her in an auto-rickshaw and dropped her at her house,the police said.
