The young definition of style

Uthkarsha Balaram, I BA, Mount Carmel College is wearing a blue netted top that she picked from a shop in Commercial Street and matched it with an ankle length off-white trousers. She always makes a conscious effort to wear an Indian footwear with a western outfit.

“I really like the way the top has been designed. It is fitted at the top and has little frills towards the end. The top gives the wearer a good figure without being too exposing. The trouser also fits well and the cut is impressive. It gives you a very slim appearance. It is smart, stylish and attractive.

I also believe that it helps to play around with colours, cuts and designs to come up with something that is unique and one of a kind. I am wearing Kolhapuri slip-on, as I feel that a western outfit goes well with an Indian footwear. It may seem a little misplaced at the beginning but that will also become fashion someday.”

Farah Magi, I BA, Mount Carmel College is wearing a thin bomber jacket from ‘Splash’ which she picked up to match the black leggings from ‘Zara’. She is one of those who also thinks it is important to match the footwear with the outfit.

“I think the young must experiment with style. Youngsters must mix and match clothes and come up with their own interpretation and definition of style. Leggings are slowly but steadily replacing jeans, as they are comfortable and elegant. It gives the wearer a classy look. I like bright coloured clothes and I have a weakness for anything bohemian in feel and appearance.

I really liked the colour combination and I picked up a bangle that goes with the outfit. It gives a rustic appearance to the whole look. It is also imperative to match the footwear to the outfit. I usually pick up footwear with a metallic finish as this gives a very classy look.”
Sridevi BG, I BBM, Mount Carmel College is wearing a peach coloured top that she bought from United Colors of Benetton and paired it with blue-zipped denims from Levis.

“I picked a black coloured spaghetti top and wore a peach top over it as it is attractive. The denims are cut to a slim fit and are fit with zips at the side. I am carrying a large white coloured bag from Singapore. This I carry to college everyday.

Style for me is something that is subtle yet elegant. I like anything that is subtle and don’t pick anything that is loud. I also experiment with coloured denims such as red, pink, and yellow.”
