'Use of bio fuel will solve fuel problem'

Speaking after inaugurating Hasiru honnu’ programme organised jointly by Bio fuel Task Force and Forest department at Guruvayanakere on Monday, he said modern technology has been planned to produce and make use of bio fuel at the village level.

Experiments are being carried out throughout the world on its pros and cons. Ethanol and bio diesel can be produced from the wastage from sugar factory. Farmers will be benefited through bio fuel. The use of bio fuel like Ethanol and Bio diesel will solve the problem of fuel. Under Hasiru honnu project, in association with Grama Aranya Samiti and slef help groups, plantations will be started in 6,000 hectatre land for bio fuel.

Honge, neem, Surehonne and other saplings will be planted. Efforts will be made to start bio fuel unit in villages and marketing facility will also be provided with latest technology. Bio fuel revolution will be implemented through National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in Gram Panchayats.

Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat President Santhosh Kumar Bhandary said bio fuel revolution can be made only when Grama Aranya samithi actively take part in the project. Rs 5 lakh has been sanctioned to Pilikula Nisargadhama by Pollution Control Board, he added.

Taluk Panchayat President Vijayakumar presided.

In his introductoy remarks, DFO Vijayakumar said bio diesel development programmes will be implemented in 25,000 hectare land this year.
