'Scrapping of KPSC selection list right decision'

 Home Minister K J George has said that the government taken a right decision to scrap the Karnataka Public Service Commission selection list.

Speaking to mediapersons after offering baagina at Harangi reservoir on Wednesday, he said “CID investigation has clarified that there was illegalities in the selection process. Hence, we had to scrap the list. To ensure that no injustice is met at talented candidates, it has been decided to relax the age criterion to rewrite the exam.”

On bypolls in three constituencies, he said “India is a democratic country and the voters have the power to elect their representatives. We will win all the three seats.”

He said that the district has received good rainfall even after a delay. The rain will irrigate farmers. The garden in front of Harangi reservoir will be inaugurated at the earliest.

Farmers protest

Farmers of Thorenoor and Manajoor staged a protest in front of the Minister. Alleging that failure of the officials in removing silt from the sub canals of the Harangi, water do not flow to the land. Hence agriculture activities can not be taken up. The protesters accused the Harangi department officials of their negligence.

Water Users Association former president T M Shivappa said that owing to failure of the officials to initiate measures to remove silt, water is not released into the land.

Assistant Executive Engineer said that there was shortage of funds. However, he has promised to visit the spot.
