Police arrested a 19-year-old student from Rajasthan after her Facebook friend, also 19, claimed he raped her in a lodge near Kalasipalya on August 17. The suspect is Vikram Singh Jat.
The police said the victim, from Bihar, was living in a PG accommodation near her college. In her complaint, she said that on August 17, the suspect took her to a lodge saying they could spend “some peaceful time”.
They left around 8.30 am, checked into the lodge at 9.30 am and checked out at 9 pm. He then forced himself on her, raping her till the evening. He had told the lodge management they were cousins and would stay only for a few hours.
The suspect later warned her against disclosing the matter to anyone. But the next day, the girl mustered the courage and approached the police who went to his place and arrested him.
“Both had become friends on Facebook and met many a time. He took advantage of her as she was staying alone,” a senior police officer said.
