Dr Prabhu, general manager Bharat Earthmovers Limited (Beml), Bangalore, committed suicide on Saturday, by jumping into a well near the Bhovi Colony at Madenur in the taluk.
Prabhu, a native of Siddarahalli in Arsikere taluk of Hassan district, was residing in K R Puram, Bangalore. He called up his family members in the afternoon to tell them that he was ending his life. He had died by the time they could reach the spot.
The reason for the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. The Tiptur Rural police have registered a case.
