Protesters said that though the Commission was constituted 6 years ago to assess the political, economic growth of the Scheduled Caste members and other backward communities, the Commission could not function properly due to various constrains.
They said that Chief Minister had assured to release Rs 15 crore for the Commission years ago but this amount has not yet been released. Since the period of Commission will end on December 30, they said it must be extended and the date on, which the Commission will submit its report to the Government.
Providing rehabilitation to Dalit families which have lost their homes in the flood, control misuse of 22.75 per cent funds by various department, title deeds to cultivated lands, basic facilities to BCM hostels were some of the other demands.
