Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa has said that the anti-ragging committee of the varsity was investigating the ragging incident reported by a girl student and the report was expected within two days.

The incident had ‘occurred’ in the computer science laboratory of the varsity. Speaking to media on the sidelines of inauguration of MCom evening batch at University College on Tuesday, he said that CCTV cameras would be installed in the entire campus.

Mobile phones are banned both for students and teachers inside the classrooms. A circular regarding the same has been already issued. This is applicable not only to the University, but also to the constituent colleges—University College Mangalore, Madikeri Field Marshal Cariappa College and Chikkaluvara PG centre. Wi-Fi facility will be provided on these campuses, he said.
