Foreign investors eyeing Bengal: Mamata

Last Updated 28 August 2014, 19:04 IST

Within days of returning from her Singapore trip to seek foreign investment, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lashed out at her detractors and said foreign investors are ignoring the malicious campaign against her government and are keen to invest in West Bengal.

“Those who interacted with us in Singapore expressed surprise at the extent of the malicious lies being spread against Bengal. Some media houses tried to spread false, malicious lies about the visit,” Banerjee said, while addressing a rally of the party’s students’ wing in the city on Thursday.

Describing her first foreign trip as chief minster as a “positive” tour, Banerjee said, “Everybody took a lot of interest in investing in Bengal. We have tried to build and communicate a positive image of the state there. Even those who had left Bengal are willing to return. The door of rapid industrialisation has opened.”
