Chikka’s 36-hole total of six-over 148 keeps him two strokes ahead of Ashbeer Saini, who moved into lone second place in Category A after carding three-over 74. Ankur Chadha is in third place, another two shots back while overnight leader Trishul Chinappa slipped to tied fourth alongside Sayed Ahmed after shooting 79. In Category B (U-15), Delhi’s Honey Baisoya extended his lead after improving on his first-round score by one shot to shoot 75. At nine-over 151, he is three ahead of Rahul Ravi, who made a jump up the leaderboard with a round of  two-over 73.

Rahul Bajaj humbled top seed Abhinav Lohan to reach the second round of the LG Goodricke Eastern India Amateur golf tournament at Kolkata on Wednesday. Bajaj, number three on the LG Order of Merit list, prevailed over Lohan in an intense battle to make it to the main field in 32nd place.

Most of the other big names on Tour, however, sailed through to the second round.
Rashid Khan beat Aditya Bhandarkar 5&4, while Gagan Verma defeated Varoon Parmar 6&5. Karan Vasudeva won 5&3 against Sahil Kulkarni while Abhijit Chadha scored a comprehensive win over HS Kang to set up a second round face-off against Rashid.
