5 arrested for murder

The police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of a 29-year-old man in Banashankari on December 2.

The arrested are Dilip Raju, 30, of Kodigehalli; Raghavendra, 30, of Hanumanthnagar; S N Gopi, 36, of BTM Layout; Karthik, 28, and S N Anil Kumar, 43, both residents of Kalasipalyam.They had killed Avinash, a resident of Hebbal, on December 2 over an old rivalry, the police said.

Avinash and his associates had attacked their rival Dilip and injured him in Hebbal on November 2. The police had arrested Avinash. After he came out on bail, Dilip decided to take revenge, the police said.

Avinash went to a swimming pool on December 2 in his car with friends Murali, Harish and Sopparaju. Dilip, Raghu and others followed the car and intercepted it near Hunasemara signal on Kanakapura Main Road. Avinash managed to escape.

Dilip and his associates chased him and stopped the car on 9th Main Road at Yarabnagar in Banashankari 2nd Stage. They attacked him with lethal weapons and fled the spot. On a complaint by Avinash’s mother, the police arrested the suspects.
