Shades of red, lime green, fuchsia and royal blue caught everyone’s attention at a fashion show held at the Ritu Kumar showroom recently to unveil the bridal collection of 201.

The place was packed and guests enjoyed watching four well-known Sandalwood actresses striking a pose in fabulous collections. Sandalwood star Ragini Dwivedi was the special guest for the evening and stunned the audience in a black netted saree with ‘ari’ and brocade work. She matched it with a pair of silver earrings.

Before the event, Ragini excitedly said, “Ritu Kumar is one of India’s best designers and though I have worked with many top designers, this is the first time I am wearing something from Ritu’s collection. I like the fact that her style is very earthy and Indian.”
Actresses Sanjjanaa, Parvathy Nair and Shwetha Srivatsav also lit the place up with their elegance. Shwetha looked dashing in a red and silver evening gown while Sanjjanaa, in a grey Victorian classy gown, said that the event was special as it was on the day before her birthday.

Parvathy Nair said that the event got her a little nostalgic. “It is special to me as I too had an eye for fashion when I was young and had won a fashion designing contest in college. Ritu is one of the finest designers and I really love her bridal collection,” she noted.

The show started with a video showcasing Ritu’s bridal collection, which was inspired by traditional zardozi with contemporary motifs. Post this, four gorgeous models walked to mellifluous Sufi strains, showcasing an assortment of bridal wear such as ‘lehengas’, suits, sarees and ‘ghagras’ in chiffon, lace and georgette. The hand jewellery and jasmine flowers in their hair added a touch of traditionalism and elegance to their look.
