A number of parents whose children have been studying at Orchids The International School in Jalahalli here have got the shock of their life after getting to know that the institution did not have the required permission to run certain sections.

A meeting between parents and the school management took place on Thursday where the parents asked for documentary proof from the management.

Anjan Murthy, a parent whose daughter studies in UKG, said: “It is only today that I got to know that the school was permitted to run only up to class 5. We are in a state of shock. We asked the founder of the school who we saw for the first time today for answers. But we were not satisfied with his replies,” said Murthy.

The parents asked for proper documents from the school.

However, the school did not furnish the same, forcing the parents to launch a protest.

“We have paid lakhs of rupees when the school does not even have any permission. We have asked the management how they would operate after this incident,” the parents said. Around 500 parents were present at the school.

A number of demands for security of children were made on the day.  Some of these were for more women employees, more GPS and CCTVs, background check to be done before appointing staff, from peons to teachers.

Some parents even claimed that the school had no principal for the past six months.
According to parents, the management said that they were ready to work on the demands and that a proper decision would be reached after a discussion with the police on Saturday.
