It was certainly not a good wicket: Dhoni

Last Updated 28 December 2009, 17:33 IST

Dhoni said the track at Ferozeshah Kotla was indeed bad.  “If you look at my career, you will see this was the only abandoned match that I have been part of. It was certainly not a good wicket. So the match referee decided to abandon the match in consultation with the two teams. Now it is upto the ICC to decide on the issue,” Dhoni told reporters at the launch of his own website here Monday.

Websites of flamboyant opener Virender Sehwag, spinner Harbhajan Singh and paceman Ishant Sharma were also launched.

Dhoni also suggested that it should be mandatory for teams to play a certain number of Test matches every year. “We can have a minimum number of Test matches annually. In a year’s span there could be a minimum number of Tests and one-dayers to play. And after that if institutions like ECB and BCCI think they have to play more Tests, it’s welcome,” Dhoni said.

Dhoni, however, conceded that working out such a schedule would not be an easy task.  “It is difficult to have a specific formula as it all depends on the FTP which is fixed three-five years before and different nations play different number of Test matches. But we can have minimum number,” he said.
