As part of celebrations of Turkey’s National Day and the centenary birth anniversary of well known novelist Orhan Kemal, the Turkish Embassy in association with the Art Spice Gallery has organised an art show titled ‘On the Edge of the City’.

The exhibition showcases an exclusive collection of paintings by award-winning artist, Serdar Leblebici. It is a collection of 32 paintings inspired by the novel, ‘Cemile’ written by renowned Turkish novelist Orhan Kemal. The artist, Serdar Leblebici, has brought to life the challenging life struggle in Çukurova during the 1930s in the Turkish Republic, established by Atatürk, through oil paintings on canvas in different dimensions.

Inaugurating the art show, Burak Akcapar, Ambassador, Embassy of Turkey said, “The exhibition is a celebration of human artistic ingenuity. Serdar Leblebici has built bridges across times and cultures to attain universality of message, form, light and colour. His hometown Izmir is already a growing destination for thousands of Indians. Collaborative art events help build ties and enhance our connections with India, another country known for its rich heritage.”

Currently, Leblebici is actively involved in his workshop in Izmir. Each of his beautiful and daunting masterful works has enshrined within them a dazzling spectrum of emotions that tames even the most frigid of souls. Serdar’s images and portraits both inspire and shock you with their ethereal embodiment of the human spirit and his play of colours not only darkens the shadows, but highlights them as well. His vivid rendition of the craft ensnares your imagination and this show is a testimony to his genius.

The exhibition will be on till October 31 at The Art Spice gallery, The Metropolitan Hotel and Spa, Bangla Sahib Road from 10 am to 7 pm.
