Upload revised list in 24 hours: HC to KPSC

Last Updated 12 November 2014, 03:59 IST

The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday directed the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) to host on its website, within 24 hours, the names of 94 candidates selected by it for the post of gazetted probationers for the year 1998 after re-doing the list recently.

Khaleel Ahmed and others have filed a petition seeking directions to the government to initiate action based on CID report in connection with irregularities in appointment of gazetted probationers during the year 1998, 1999 and 2004. During the hearing, the counsel for KPSC submitted that it had redone the list of candidates for the year 1998, following the directions of the State government and also as per the High Court directions dated March 21, 2014.

The counsel also pointed to the sealed cover submitted to the court earlier along with its report. He mentioned about the changes in selections and service rankings due to the remoderation. “ By re-moderation of the list, we find that the KPSC has admitted their mistake. In their report they have pointed out how the re-moderation affects the selection process and how their service ranking of the selected candidates will vary. Now all persons are before this court.”

“Opportunities will have to be given to all those affected and those before this court. What is kept in sealed cover should be made known to all persons as it relates to public employment and whether the KPSC and the government have made recruitment in accordance with rules.

Having regard to number of people before this court, it will be appropriate that the report-cum-final list prepared by KPSC is web-hosted by them as well as the government,” a division bench comprising Justices N Kumar and B Manohar said in its order.

The court also directed the selected candidates to file their objections by the next date of hearing.
