The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Karnataka State unit will hold a seminar on electoral reforms at Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday. The party’s politburo member Sitaram Yechuri will inaugurate it.

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda will attend the programme scheduled to begin at 3 pm. APMC Minister Shamanoor Shivashankarappa will also take part, CPM State secretary G V Sriram Reddy told reporters on Friday.

Yechuri will take part in a discussion on online trading introduced by Agriculture Marketing Department. Reddy said the party was opposing the online trading.

The discussion is being organised by FKCCI, Merchants’ Association and Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha. CPM General Secretary Prakash K said a national-level meet would be held from January 8 to 11 next year in Bengaluru. Such national-level meetings are held every three years, he added. Members of all units of CPI (M) across the country would attend the four-day meet.
