A youth was allegedly thrown out of a speeding train near Lalitpur railway station in Uttar Pradesh, about 400 km from here, on Monday by railway police personnel for refusing to pay them.

Om Narain Yadav, a resident of Kanpur, suffered serious injuries and had been admitted to the hospital at Jhansi, where his condition was stated to be critical, according to the sources here.

Om’s brother Jai Narain, who was with him, alleged that the Government Railway Police personnel had demanded Rs 900 from them to allow them to travel in the reserved sleeper coach.

“We had tickets for general compartment but as there was a huge rush, we had boarded the sleeper coach,” Jai Narain said.

The two brothers were returning home after appearing in a competitive examination in Nagpur.

Jai Narain said the GRP constables, who had extorted money from several passengers in the sleeper coach, also thrashed his brother before throwing him out near Lalitpur railway station.

He said he also fell out of the compartment in an attempt to save his brother.
He alleged that his brother continued to bleed near the railway tracks for two hours before he could be sent to the hospital.

The doctors, who were attending on the youth, said one of his legs might have to be amputated.

Police said they were looking into the matter. “We are investigating the reports. Stern action will be taken against the cops if the charges are found to be true,” said an officer here.

Earlier also GRP personnel had been accused of throwing passengers out of the train after they refused to pay them.

A few months back, an old woman had died after being pushed out of the train by GRP constables in the state.
