It’s fun, it’s quirky, it’s inspired by New York, yet, unabashedly Indian. ‘Monkey Bar’ puts its own spin on the popular concept of a gastropub.

The place includes authentic burgers, a delicious selection of small plates, soul-satisfying main courses to cater to every sort of craving, cocktails in Nutella jars and copper tumblers, as well as delicious desserts.

The interiors invoke the feeling of being in a fun New York-esque space: exposed brick walls, soft wood floors, and large comfortable booths in deep tones, offset by mismatched yet warm lights and fixtures.

Take a trip across the delicious small plates section for some essential pub grub and quirky flavours: on offer are ‘Spiked Nachos’ with a delicious infusion of tequila and lime, Paneer and Ricotta Cheese Kebabs, Baked Potato Skins, Tikki of Joy and Goan Chorizo Pao, Butterfly Chicken, Crab Rangoon, Pirogies in vegetarian and non vegetarian options, tempura calamari, Shammi Sliders and more.

Traditional dishes like Sorpotel wind up in little jam pots, the traditional Coorg delicacy Pandi Curry is paired with warm grilled fresh Pita Bread; The Parsee Orderly’s Mutton Curry creates its own delicious spin on India’s culinary legacy.

Even the vada pav is adapted, tweaked, made hugely playful and placed comfortably in a setting that immediately puts customers at ease.

The burgers are wood-grilled, smoky and juicy. In the main course is ‘MoBar Laksa’, an aromatic coconut broth with kaffir lime leaves, chillies, garlic, lemon grass, prawns, chicken, noodles and egg.

A must-try salad is Roasted Beet and Orange Salad with a three mustard dressing, sesame beans and toasted candied walnuts and crumbled feta.

At the Wood Street branch, one can also savour Chicken Tikka Masala — coated, succulent morsels of chicken slowly cooked in a spiced tomato cream sauce, served with a choice of clove rice or grilled pita.

The Any Time Meals consist of Cinnamon and Toffee Pancakes, Eggs in a Blanket and more. The desserts carry forward the same quirky tone, enticing you with a mishmash of flavours that melt in your mouth.

The Mobar Sundae Sandwich is a sundae converted into a sandwich. Desserts include I-Scream Sliders — ‘slider’ profiteroles with vanilla ice cream, salted caramel ice cream, coffee ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce and cheesecake served with toasted marshmallows.

‘Monkey Bar’ is located at two places in the City — 14/1 Krishna Manere, Wood Street and # 610, 12th Main Road, HAL 2nd Stage, Indiranagar. The place is open 12 noon onwards.
