Though the organisers of the ‘Kiss of Love’ had put off the event, the City police did not take any chances and deployed enough forces near Sir Puttanna Chetty Town Hall on Sunday, where the event was scheduled to take place.

Around 50 police personnel were deployed near the Town Hall since Sunday morning.

The entire area was barricaded and the police were on constant vigil and made sure that no untoward incident took place, said Sandeep Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central).

No clarity

“There was no clarity about the organisers and we did not know who was taking part in the event. People could have gathered near the venue and protested in their own way. We did not want to take any risk and therefore deployed policemen,” said another officer.

“Events like these are conducted in a flash mob style where protest erupts from nowhere. Moreover, there are strict orders that no people should be seen in groups near Town Hall,” the police officer added.
