Now, after the success of the film, Manjari Phadnis has grabbed another golden opportunity and signed another big film with Walt Disney Production titled, Zokkomon. In a chat with Metrolife, Manjari says, “I am on top of the world because I am part of one of the best production companies. Unfortunately, I can’t really talk about my role in the film.”

Keeping her character a suspense has been very common in Manjari’s other movies as well. After all in JTYJN she was the surprise element. But it is said that
she was not Aamir’s first choice for the film. “That’s not true at all. I was misquoted before. I was Abbas’ choice, Aamir accepted me,” she clarifies.

Manjari doesn’t have any film background, and feels that entering an industry filled with celeb sons and daughters is not easy. “If one has a film background, he or she not only gets a good break but also keeps getting chances to prove oneself if the launch does not work,” says Manjari, whose first film, Rok Sako To Rok Lo (2004) also bombed at the box office. “I guess I have been very lucky that way,” says she.

Like many heroines, Manjari too has made an entry down South and done a couple of Tamil and Telugu films.

But what’s interesting is that for the first time Manjari has sung a song called Azhagana Neeyum for a Tamil film Muthira. “Since I am a trained singer, the director gave me a chance to sing and I took it up as a challenge. I didn’t know what exactly I was singing but I learnt the lyrics and now that the music is out, let’s see how people will accept me in this new avatar,” adds Manjari. So will we see the damsel crooning for
any Bollywood number soon? “Let’s see if I can con some music director here and sing a couple of songs,” she laughs.

If there is one thing that Manjari loves about acting, it is that she gets to live and study a lot of characters in one lifetime.

But ask her what is it that she hates about the profession and she says, “I hate getting my make-up done for hours together before a shoot.” Hard to believe, but it’s true. “I hate getting ready for anything, I am very restless person and the make-up man has to literally pin me down to get me ready,” she adds.

As for the future, Manjari will be seen in just another film, I am 24. “I have not signed many movies as I am getting very choosy about signing films,” she says. Considering that her first few films have not done well, we say that’s a good decision.
