Last Updated 27 December 2014, 02:18 IST

Train services were again hit on Friday with dense fog in the Capital. The city recorded the maximum temperature at 17 degree Celsius, four notches below normal. The minimum settled at 6.3 degree Celsius, two notches below normal.

Fifty-seven 57 trains due to reach Delhi were running late and 27 trains leaving from the Capital were rescheduled. Trains reaching Delhi late included NDLS Duranto, Karnataka Express, Garib Rath, Kolkata Rajdhani, Jharkhand Express and SDAH Rajdhani. Jalandhar Express, Amritsar Express, Shane Punjab and Sach Khand Express were also running late, according to Northern Railways.

The visibility at Safdarjung at 5.30 am was till 500 metres. Meanwhile, Palam recorded 300 metres of visibility in the morning.

Flights not hit

However, no flight services were affected on Friday, according to an Airport Authority official.

“There were no delays, diversions or cancellations due to weather today. During low visibility, 186 flights operated with the help of instrument landing system. This includes both international and domestic flights. While 13 flights operated under CAT III-A, 27 flights operated under CAT III-B,” said the official.

Even though one runway was closed due to fog, the other runways could handle the flight traffic, said an official at Indira Gandhi International Airport Met department.

“There is likely to be depression over the Tamil Nadu coast  from December 28 to 31. This will determine the fog pattern in Delhi. The temperature pattern will also depend on this depression,” said R K Jenamani, Director, Met department, IGIA.

The Met department predicts there will be moderate to dense fog in the Capital on Saturday.

“The sky will be mainly clear but there will be moderate to dense fog in some areas. The maximum temperature will hover around 17 degree Celsius and the minimum at 6 degree Celsius,” said an official.
