A 35-year-old cook from Jharkhand allegedly hanged himself at a paying guest accommodation in south Delhi’s Amar Colony where he was employed.

Police found no suicide note and a probe into possible reasons behind his apparent suicide is on.

Srikant had been working as a cook at the PG in Amar Colony for the last four years and had been living there itself.

The owner and residents of the accommodation have told police he never showed signs of stress or depression which could arouse their suspicion.

“After cooking the dinner on Tuesday, he told some residents that he was going to the terrace to ring his family. When he did not answer the phone calls of a few residents and came down from the terrace after a few hours, some of them went up to check,” a police officer said.

The door leading to the terrace was found locked from the other side.
One of the residents managed to climb from a feasible side and found Srikant hanging from an iron rod out of the roof.

Police were called and the body was brought down. While police are investigating the case, foul play has been ruled out in the initial probe.

His family has been informed and they were on their way to Delhi. Police said they could provide some clues behind his extreme step based on his last conversation with them.
