Many youngsters in the City are flaunting their jumpsuits with style. For others, it’s more than just a style statement. They say that it points a great deal to their sense of fashion and choice of clothes.

Go for a jumpsuit that fits well and you will surely look like a diva feels popular fashion designer Deepika Govind. She says, “Jumpsuits are cool and chic. The minute you slip into one, you automatically feel nice. You just need to have the right jewellery and you can look great.”

Having originated from the skydiver’s suit, jumpsuits have now become a style statement. “They were very popular in the 60s and are back in trend now. It is a versatile garment which is fun and stylish,” says the owner of ‘Nature Alley’, Tara Aslam.

Jumpsuits can be a trendy alternative to dresses. “It looks classy and is comfortable. It also comes in the form of skirts, shorts and pants. Again, there are varieties under each of these category — the pants can be parallel, tapered and harem to name a few,” says designer Shradha Ponnappa.

A date, a brunch, or a party; you can walk out in style with jumpsuits during both casual and formal occasions. “Printed jumpsuits give a street fashion look. One can also go for luxury satin and rayon jumpsuits in sleeveless, strapped, halter and full-sleeve styles.

The casual ones give the low crotch look and the formal ones give a classy look,” says Deepika.

Thin or curvy, these suits look good on all body types. “Jumpsuits suit all body types although one has to be careful about the different necklines and fit,” says Shradha.

Accessorise smartly and you are ready to walk out in elegance. “A great neckpiece, earrings, bracelet or a cocktail ring will complete the look while posing with a jumpsuit. But remember to wear only one of these. Don’t wear all of them together,” says Deepika.

And what about the footwear? “The kind of footwear depends on the style of the jumpsuit. Sandals go well with casual suits, boots for the street look, and sleek strapped sandals for the evening are ideal,” says Deepika. “Heels add to the style instantly and flats can be worn for a casual look,” adds Tara.

Jumpsuits ruled the fashion scene last year and will be in vogue this new year too. “I like jumpsuits as they are very classy and comfortable. I love the animal printed jumpsuit as it gives a bold look,” says Aishwarya, a professional.

“Since they are just one piece, they are easier to pack and travel with. They look smart and stylish and are also easy to accessorise,” says Pankti, a professional. Go grab a jumpsuit and give yourself a fresh look this new year.
