Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya said on Thursday that he will discuss with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah the proposal to set up an architecture school in the State and name it after legendary sculptor Amarashilpi Jakanachari.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the State-level Amarashilpi Jakanachari Remembrance Day, Anjaneya said: “The Vishwakarma community has requested the government to name any one of the universities in the State after the legendary sculptor.
However, other communities will also start placing similar demands. So, an architecture school in memory of Jakanachari can be set up. This way, architecture will also be encouraged.”
The members of the Viswakarma community urged the government to declare September 17 as Vishwakarma Jayanthi day.
