Minor clash during Eid Milad procession

Tension prevailed at Hosathota in Somwarpet taluk, following a minor clash during the Eid Milad procession, on Saturday. Police personnel have been camping in the village to prevent any untoward incidents.

Hosathota is known for such incidents, where clashes between communities have erupted even for petty reasons.

The village has been decorated with banners and buntings as part of Hindu convention to be held in Siddapura on January 16. The SSF and Tipu Hitharakshana Samiti have also put up banners as part of Eid Milad.

People belonging to Muslim community were taking out a procession as part of Eid Milad on Saturday at 10.30 am, when a motorbike adorned with flags allegedly rode through it. Kiran and Anil who created the commotion were allegedly attacked by those taking part in the rally. This led to unnecessary rumours that created a tense atmosphere. Following this, there was a self declared bandh in the village. 

Complaints Somwarpet police have registered a case, following a complaint lodged by Ibrahim, who alleged that  Anil and Kiran in their Hero Honda motorbike belonging to Sharat had purposefully ridden through the rally, injuring two persons. Meanwhile, the duo has also lodged a complaint that the motorbike they were riding, hit two persons participating in the rally, by mistake. Siddique, Unnish, Ibriahim, Shariff and others immediately attacked them and had even damaged the motorbike, the complaint stated.
