'Farmer issues neglected by both govts'

MLA K S Puttannaiah alleged that the State government had failed to consider the demands of the farmers and had been taking their protests lightly.

“If this continues, it will become inevitable for the farmers to send out a strong message to the government,” he warned.

Addressing media persons in Mandya, on Monday, he targeted District-in-charge minister Ambareesh for not responding to the problems faced by the people of the district and also failing to hold regular meetings.

“If Ambareesh’s health condition does not allow him to concentrate on the district, let the Chief Minister himself take over the responsibility. It is unfortunate that the Chief Minister is also not responding to the farmers’ problems. The sorry state of affairs is shameful,” he added.

Modi flayed
Puttannaiah also flayed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not speaking about the Agriculture policy, sugarcane prices and drought situation.

“The Prime Minister has only been hobnobbing with international leaders, and has been neglecting farmers, who feed the country. Why is he not holding discussions with farmer leaders?” Puttannaiah questioned.
