Two throw ball players from the taluk have found place in the national team selected to participate in the Asia Cup, scheduled to be held at Malaysia from July 7 to 10.
The selected players — Rampal and V M Karthikgowda — may leave for the coaching camp next month, but their financial condition may become a constraint in taking part in the international event.
Rampal is the son of Peer Bahadur, a resident of Ram Rahim Nagar, in the town; and Karthikgowda is the son of Muthuraj, a resident of Vaidyanathapura.
While Peer Bahadur is a security guard, Muthuraj is a farmer, so they are not in a position to sponsor their children’s trip to Malaysia, which is estimated to cost Rs 50,000 each.
Their friends have appealed to MLA D C Thammanna, MLC B Ramakrishna and sports lovers to support the sportspersons financially.
