India has been helpful to Zambia in many areas, including the provision of flood relief and food aid, irrigation schemes for the development of small-scale farms, scholarships and training in various fields among others, he adds.

Speaking at a dinner he hosted here on Tuesday in honour of visiting Indian Vice-President Hamid Ansari, he said he was happy to note that there were still many other opportunities that the Indian government had offered to participating African counties under the India-Africa partnership forum for Zambia to tap into.

Ansari is in Zambia for a two-day visit. He is accompanied by his wife, Salma Ansari, and a 50-memebr delegation comprising business executives and members of Parliament.

Kunda said the Zambian Government would remain an active participant of the India-Africa Partnership Forum to strengthen the Zambian economy. He noted that India, an emerging superpower, had proved itself worth emulating in many areas because of its economic growth and technological progress.

He particulary noted that India's innovations especially in the information communication technology (ICT) sector, had been outstanding and rewarding. At the political level, India had been a beacon of democracy as it is a thriving multi-party system allowed political parties to compete favourably.
