The ‘Chak De India’ girl Shilpa Shukla is all set to entertain her fans in the upcoming comedy flick ‘Crazy Cukkad Family’.

The actress, who sizzled in a negative role in ‘BA Pass’, will now be seen in the vivacious character of Archana in the film that is set to release on January 16. “Archana is a very vibrant character.

She is actually my age but mentally, she is like a 13-year-old. She blames her brother for everything that goes wrong in her life. She is not ready to let go of the past. She accessorises herself from top to bottom and has a low sense of fashion. But according to her, she is perfect and wants to win a beauty pageant. She is a rebellious person who will not allow anyone else to win including her brothers,” expresses Shilpa.

The award-winning actress says that acting was not on her mind at all. “I was doing theatre because I was enjoying it. I wasn’t sure if I was going to make a career out of acting. I was in college and auditioned for an international movie. I was selected among 93 girls who had come for the auditions. It was just destiny and didn’t have much to do with me trying too hard,” she says.

The graceful actress says that theatre gave her a voice and power that helped develop her personality. The actress, who was addressed as Bindya Naik after her character in ‘Chak De India’, says that it was ‘BA Pass’ that gave her a breakthrough. “‘Chak De India’ was more of method acting as we were put under  a strict regimen.

It wasn’t my most difficult role. But ‘BA Pass’ was coming out of my comfort zone and becoming someone else totally. It was an ‘out-of-body experience’ for me. And also ‘BA Pass’ gave me a ‘Best Actress’ award,” she adds. Shilpa, who enjoys her work, says that acting is like meditation to her.

Busy promoting the film, she says that she is open to direction too. “I am working on a script. I started it last year and got stuck at one of the scenes. I will get professional help to finish it. I want to tell stories and I want to tell the story of a child. Whenever the time is right, I will definitely work towards directing this story,” Shilpa sums up.
